Matador opens like a handshake from an old friend. From the first pinch, eucalyptus leads with a cool, smooth grace, followed closely by the herbal depth of camphor. Menthol lingers at the edges, not absent, but soft-spoken, offering lift without the sting. Together, the trio doesn't clash. It dances. This is where the blend earns its name. Much like a matador facing down a bull, the notes of Matador engage in an elegant exchange. The eucalyptus glides like a sidestep, the camphor hovers with poise, and the menthol punctuates the movement like a flourish of the cape. Below it all, the musk of the tobacco and a whisper of floral hold steady, earth beneath the arena. There is no chaos in this blend, only rhythm. The components don't overpower each other; they perform, each in turn. For the experienced snuffer, there's beauty in the restraint. For newcomers, the ease of use and mild burn make it a welcoming experience.
This snuff contains a moderate amount of Vitamin N. For a medicated blend, this provides a rush of menthol before the energy kicks in. The moisture content is moderate, leaning to the dry side. I have this product in a tap tin, so it may be a bit more moist when presented in a traditional tin, as these tap tins just don't hold the snuff in an airtight way. Medium in grind and with a slightly fluffy texture, this blend is somewhat coarser than other English snuffs, light brown in colour with long flecks of tan and white. Friendly in use, the medicated holy trinity is not overpowering, and the fluffy consistency aids in an easy pinch.
