Introducing Baogu Snuff Master - Handcrafted Snuff from China

We are excited to introduce a new maker to Mr Snuff: Baogu Snuff Master (鼻煙宗匠), a craft snuff maker from China whose work is rooted in a tradition recognised as intangible cultural heritage.

Baogu learned the craft from his grandfather, who made snuff entirely by hand. He has tried modern methods, but found they could never match the original, natural aroma of the handmade process. So he stays with the old way.

His approach is guided by three principles: respect for natural ingredients, allowing the tobacco to lead while spices accompany in balance, and never rushing — giving each step from grinding to fermentation and aging its own time.
