Sir Walter Scotts Aged Border Rapee uses fire-cured Kentucky tobacco processed with a concentrate made from boiling tobacco leaves in water with Maldon Sea Salt. The blend undergoes six months of fermentation followed by six months of maturation. The grind is medium to coarse with high moisture content.
The aroma has smoky and earthy notes with leather, saltwater, and dark fruit. Tasting notes include smoky tobacco, earthy, leathery, and sweet elements with a salty edge. The nicotine strength is high.

Its aroma is great but Im not going to be paying a premium on a snuff that gets mold after owning the tin for like 3 months, I have too big of a snuff collection to burn through a tin quickly these days. This snuff is not mold resistant like other snuffs are and you will waste your money if you dont burn through the tin immediately.
This is the first Sir Walter Scott’s border snuff I’ve had. At first opening the can (mine came in a canister, maybe not every one I’m not sure), the aroma was strong and fresh. The smell reminded me of grains. Very rich.The grind is medium with a few lighter, slightly larger pieces. Seems almost like it’s saturated…gives you a boozy feeling later on. Must be careful. Like an imperial beer. I took it often and what got me was the spiciness of this stuff. A few drip moments were almost unbearable. Anyhow, I enjoyed it nonetheless. Very natural.
It took me a while to write this review because it took me a while to fully appreciate everything this blend offers.
First impression was that it seemed dry, was quite coarse, has a very good, deep and earthy tobacco smell with hints of dark fruit. Smells similar to a good brown rope tobacco, likely owing to the kentucky leaf. Has a hellacious backdrip burn. The texture almost made me wonder if it was meant to be dipped rather than snuffed.
After using it for a while, wow! The nic hit was quite satisfying from the start, but it took a little while for my nose to puck up on all the subtle hints of plum and earth and other indescribable scents that are wonderful and blend perfectly. The moisture is just right even though it seems dry. The grind is coarse but it seems to make the absorption slower and thus the scent develops over time rather than right away. Backdrip still burns like hell.
If i could only have one blend for the rest of my life, this would be it.
One of the better, if not the best rapee, which I hane to deal with, what make her one of the best two snuffs from Sir Walter Scott's.
I'm from Finland so My experinces from snuff is little . But this snuff is amazing Flavor keep it going for a long time Only problem is to like it too much and keep on it ! But i do recommended this one dearly everrybody snuff beginners! Love this one! Maybe the next one is Latakia flavor for me !
