A quick way to turn a dry snuff into a schmalzler (an oiled German-style snuff), using a refined edible oil, clarified butter or ghee.

Digital scalesFor weighing tobacco, alkalis and salt accurately, which matters most when you're working in small batches.Mixing bowlFor stirring liquids into ground tobacco and letting it sit while it takes up moisture.Airtight jarsFor resting snuff while it develops, and for storing it afterwards.

You can go up to 18% oil by weight. At 1 g to 5 g, Ambrosia comes out close to a Bernard's schmalzler.
