Red Bull is presented in a tap box loved by some and hated by others. A few taps into the anatomical snuff box and you can see the finely ground tobacco shake out easily. The tobacco is light brown with tan flecks and finer in nature, though there are some long-stem flecks. It's a dry snuff, a smidge drier than an English snuff but not at toast levels.
On the first sniff, you are greeted with a bold announcement of menthol and, as a secondary cooling agent, a dash of eucalyptus. It is not a pure eucalyptus, but it does provide a very long-lasting cooling effect when used together. There is a moderately strong sinus-clearing effect, but not in the same way as Med No. 66. The menthol weaves towards the end but never entirely leaves the area as the softer tobacco carries this to its conclusion. This is a tremendous all-around bodied snuff that has enough Vitamin N to keep me going through the day without major drip.
A great mentholated snuff for a robust nose, but this may be too much for a lighter menthol-tolerant individual. The dry nature, paired with a robust amount of menthol and other cooling agents, may turn off a menthol novice, but it's still worth a spot in your rotation. With that being said, any snuffer should give this a try, almost as if it's a right of passage, or a minimal baseline for what medicated snuffs should be. In a tap box, I have found this to be a wonderful snuff to blend with. Vintage Velvets' floral violet notes were highlighted by the robust menthol and eucalyptus. When mixed with Smokers Blend, the citrus notes come to the forefront, and the nicotine blast is wonderful. If your heart has room for JIP!, STURCO, or O&G, this Red Bull should feel right at home for you.
