Green by TAXI is a snuff that doesn't whisper. It arrives in the nose with the essence of menthol, wet earth, tobacco, and musk. From the moment you open the plastic tin, you're greeted by a harmony of menthol, musk, and strong African tobacco, carried through a veil of light ammonia and damp highland grass. It's bold, clean, and natural in a way few mentholated snuffs manage to be.
Once pinched, menthol leads the charge, but unlike the overbearing camphor-eucalyptus blasts of traditional medicated snuffs, this blend keeps its cool. There's a slight medicated edge, maybe a hint of camphor or eucalyptus, but menthol is the star. The supporting notes of moist earth, prairie grass, tobacco, and a savoury ammonia scent unfold slowly beneath. The tobacco itself is dark brown and somewhat coarsely milled with a slightly fluffy cut, the cut may be finer in nature, but with the fluffy cut the snuff has larger particles, and the grind and fluffy nature make this a bit hard to hold in the nose, so it's better suited to an intermediate user. The moisture content is sufficient, with ample clumping in the tin, and it makes for a smooth ride, softening the nicotine burn and anchoring the scent without being overly drippy. Although there's some nasal drip, it's manageable and doesn't detract from the overall experience. This snuff provides a bolder dose of Vitamin N, comparable to JIP and STURCO, and the bold vitamin N merits a light pinch.
Compared to something like Viking's Thor's Hammer, which leans into barnyard hay and soil, TAXI Green presents a more refined take. Ammonia is there, but subtle, adding body rather than barn.
This is a snuff that's earned a spot in my rotation not as a daily driver, but as a heavyweight I'll return to when I need clarity, strength, or just a bold reminder of why I love this hobby. It's a uniquely African-style snuff with a menthol backbone and real character. If you're looking for something different, earthy, and strong, Green by TAXI is a beautiful addition to the bench.
