Neffa-style snuff with wood ash
From volunge on the Snuffhouse forum, 2020
This starts as a plain Scotch-style snuff made from Pöschl Pueblo Yellow rolling tobacco, and a little wood ash brings it closer to North African neffa. It makes a 10 g batch.

Tasting notes
Without the ash it's a plain, factory-style snuff. The ash makes it more "mouth-watering".
Notes
Use ash only from clean wood with no rubbish burned in it, and sift it through a fine sieve to get the grit out. Ash is alkaline (it holds calcium and potassium carbonates), so handle it with gloves like the other alkalis.
