Granular and highly moist, with a pure fermented tobacco flavor.
It’s just chopped fermented tobacco leaves—feels exactly like shredded fermented tobacco. No additional spices are added whatsoever.
But if you don’t love pure tobacco taste, proceed with caution! It’s extremely plain yet absurdly pure, with no fancy flavors at all. This is a daily staple tailored specifically for die-hard tobacco lovers.
Even with multiple inhales, it doesn’t irritate the nose—only a slight hint of spiciness. The tobacco flavor rushes straight to the top of the head, refreshing and satisfying cravings perfectly.
A couple of pinches of Gaoni in the nose can last for hours—super satisfying. The best way to use it is to pack it into the nostrils.
And you must buy it fresh! Just like hand-rolled cigarettes, fresh snus offers richer flavor. It loses a lot of its taste when dried out. A true daily staple.
Disclaimer: Only tried the original Bernard, not the McChrystals version.
As an ex-smoker who adores the scent of natural tobacco, this is the closest I've found so far to that experience. Very classic, ye olde smoke shop kinda taste. I also appreciate the medium grind and drier consistency, as I can take this much more regularly than a schmalzler. It doesn't overwhelm me with flavour and it doesn't drip as much. Absolute must-have!
Though name is Virginie I suspected it to be yellow, but it is dark brown. Very pleasant snuff. Dominating taste is earthy, strong enough for nicotine, long lasting. I called it Schmalzler-light. I recommend it to beginners, to prepare them for original Schmalzler.
